Nin is the oldest Croatian royal town. An exceptional type of city-church complex, it is unique in the entire Mediterranean region. Nin was one of the main settlements of the Liburnians until the arrival of the Roman conquerors, and since then the proud Municipium named Aenona. You can enter the little town by crossing one of two old bridges and trough one of the historical main gates go for sightseeing the city walls of Nin.The town is very rich in cultural and historical monuments as well as in archaeological findings and collections.
The small town of Nin is located in a shallow sand lagoon, far from traffic, about 14 km away from Zadar. As the sea is shallow and cut into the land, the temperature of the sea is 2 - 3 degrees higher than in the open sea, which creates higher salinity and aerosol. The medicinal peloid of Nin has served the curative purposes since the Roman times till now. It has the physical, mhechanic and chemical effect. The shallow seawater warmed by sun offers the continuation of the thermo therapy of various rheumatic illnesses. Nin's beaches are one of its trademarks. They are total 8000 metres in length. The longest and most famous among them is a three-kilometre long beach to which a legend is connected. Croatian Royal Family (10th century), whenever they officially came to Nin would visit this beach to enjoy a few rare and relaxing moments there. Hence the name Queen's Beac. The other Nin beaches such as Ždrijac, Prodorica, Bilotnjak as well as Zaton Holiday Resort are also attractive.
