Island has known as an oasis of peace for travellers giving them an overwhelming experience of relaxation, spiritual and physical rest. Island still has its wild side as a true evidence of the constant activities of unstoppable forces of nature; the sea and the wind. Dugi Otok is a true example of a place where these two opposites are most evident. Picturesque villages and secluded beaches collide with majestic cliffs and lush vegetation.
In the north of the island is beach Sakarun, which owes its beauty to the white sand and it is most beautiful places at Dugi Otok for swimming. In the south of the island is Telašćica bay and it is one of the safest bays for sailors in the Adriatic. Telašćica bay is founded as Nature Park 1988.
Dugi otok is connected to the mainland (town Zadar) by ferry lines. You can choose between ship lines Zadar-Sali (south island) and Zadar-Božava (north island) and ferry line Zadar-Brbinj.
